Psalm 1 speaks of how blessed is the righteous, with verse 3 saying:
“He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.” (NKJV)
The righteous are likened to a tree planted by the rivers of water. Jesus is that stream of water, living water, that the tree is planted by. When we drink of Him, out of our bellies will flow streams of living water, speaking of the Holy Spirit within us causing us to walk in the life of God Himself. Those that love Him will be like this thriving tree. May we be rooted nowhere else but Him. Apart from Him, we can do nothing.
Tree by Justin Rizzo
I have been marked by this song by Justin Rizzo called “Tree”, and this artwork is inspired by this song. The lyrics are as follows:
I want to be unmovable and unshakable
So let my roots go down deep
Unmovable and unshakable in You
I want to be unmovable and unshakable
So let my roots go down deep
Unmovable and unshakable in YouAnd I, I want to be like a tree
Planted by the streams of living water
And I, I want to be like a tree
Planted by the streams of living water
And I, I want to be like a tree
Planted by the streams of living water
And I, I want to be like a tree
Planted by the streams of living waterThis will be my song, God
This will be my prayer
‘Til the end, ’til the end
This will be my song, God
This will be my prayer
‘Til the end, ’til the endIn the midst of the coming storm
In the midst of the coming blessing
That my life would be built upon the rock
That I would not be moved
Not be shaken
May our prayer be as this song “Tree” by Justin Rizzo portrays, that we would be rooted deeply in Jesus so that we would be unmovable and unshakeable.
A Tree Must Remain Still
It’s important to note that a tree remains firmly rooted and still wherever it is planted. We are not to be movable. Our faith should remain steadfast, and that can only come by purposing ourselves to behold Jesus at all times and follow His ways. We get to be like this tree planted by the rivers of water, and if our life is not matching up to the description in Psalm 1, then we must come to the Lord in prayer and have Him inspect us so that we may humbly receive direction and any correction needed so that our lives could match up to bearing fruit in its season, our leaves not withering, and everything that we do prospering.
In essence, we should be more like Jesus day after day as we are watered by His Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18 reads:
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
When we behold God in our lives and purpose ourselves to live before an audience of One, we are changed into His very image from glory to glory. One year from now, I should be more ablazed and looking like Jesus than I am today. One month from now, I should be more like Jesus. One day from now, I should be more like Jesus. Let’s make it our aim to be firmly rooted in Him and to keep growing in His likeness. By His Spirit, we shall, and He is faithful to do it.
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ — Philippians 1:6
